What is the Sharpenset Whetstone?

The 'Whetstone' is a unique product from Sharpenset Engineering Ltd. It was developed to fill a gap in the market where other grinders just did not live up to the job. A variety of tools can be ground by wet grinding on a flat surface, either by hand or with the use of various attachments.

The machine is fitted with 180 watt (¼ HP) motor, continuously rated, of a well-known make, a reliable reversing switch and a well-proportioned diamond trued stone for long life. The basic machine is constructed entirely of aluminium die castings, finished in a pleasant shade of stove enamel. Robust, compact, portable, British made, fully guaranteed.

Lubrication and cooling of blades and tools is maintained by a self-contained, constant supply of water to the stone, ensuring there is no risk whatsoever of drawing the temper of the steel.

Circular Grinding Attachment

This attachment makes circular grinding easy with universal movement to suit any angle and spring loaded height adjustment. A range of adaptors are available to suit the blade bore and thickness, depending on your requirements. Blades from 75mm (3”) to 500mm (20”) diameter can be ground on the circular grinding attachment.

Bowl Cutter Unit

This attachment, fitted easily will grind most forms of popular bowl cutter blades producing the correct ground angle throughout its length. It is made entirely of rustproof materials and is spring loaded to ease the handling of the blades.

Blade Sharpening Attachment

A precision engineered Blade Sharpening Attachment can be easily fitted to the machine for accurate grinding of planer blades and parallel straight edged blades and most standard size chisels (with the aid of a blade and chisel clamp). This attachment is available in four sizes: 216mm (8½”), 305mm (12”), 458mm (18”) and 508mm (20”) and will sharpen blades up to 254mm (10”), 381mm (15”), 533mm (21”) and 584mm (23”) long respectively. The attachment can be adjusted to suit most angles and once set each blade can be ground to exactly similar bevels.
